Searching for the Aurora Borealis - 305013A
The excursion
was not as well planned as ones we have done in Norway, there everyone has an explation in
the show lounge on how to photograph the northern lights and in particular to turn your
flash off. This was repeated on the coach journey and the guide offered to show
anyone not sure how to turn off the flash on their camera. However on this trip
there was nothing (as well as the chaos of everyone having to wait for the last to arrive
and then all going at once). So sure enough at the dark site there were problems
from idiots firing off their flash and lighting up all the foreground snow while others had
the lens open on timed exposures. Very helpful!!.
Another problem was that on arrival it was announced that the coaches
would be returning in 35 minutes time. Fortunately the northern lights were
visible all that time so after 30 minutes of solid picture taking everyone was ready to
return, particularly when it started to snow. As it turned out it was a good
display that evening, (seen in Scotland) and nearly everyone was well pleased.
