Halifax is a delightful, friendly city, with much attractive scenery in the surounds and was the port most involved with the aftermath of the Titanic sinking, although not the nearest.

A site worth visiting is the Citadel fort which is defensive fort built to protect the harbour and city.  The impressive views from here on a clear day explain why this site was chosen.  When we were there volunteers were manning the sentry positions in costume which afforded good opportunities for photographs.  Halifax is famous for its brewery (Alexander Keith - mayor three times) in the city center which welcomes visitors with costumed guides, fascinating stories and good ale.  There is much to see in this fascinating city.
