Although Finland is often thought of as one of the Scandavian countries and Estonia as one of the Baltic States, there is more in common between Tallinn and Helsinki than one might think.   Both countries speak a non Indo-European language, completely different to any other of the European languages.   Since they are on oposite sides of the gulf of Finland, and not that far apart, it is not surprising that they have traded over many years, long before the iron curtain came down.   Many Finns take the ferry across to Tallinn to do their shopping.   It will be interesting to compare the two towns.

Helsinki was ranked 8th in 2012, in the list of best/worst cities to live by the Economist Intelligence Unit.
