Leknes is the most populous town in the Lofoten archipelago.   It has only been a town since 2002.   It is not dependant on fishing and does not have the picturesque wooden houses of the surrounding villages, but is set in splendid scenery.

The port is in between the two towns of Gravdal & Leknes and serves both.   We have been to neither so can not comment on what the towns have to offer, but the Lofoten Islands are not large, and you can get to most of them, except perhaps the most northern parts, from here.   In my view the Islands are very pictureseques and well worth a visit.
