St John´s (Not to be confused with Saint John, New Brunswick, the apostrophy is important {map}) is the largest city and capital of Newfounland, and North America´s oldest European-settled city.

For hundreds of years it has played host to explorers and conquerors, marauding pirates and merchant adventurers.  One of the furthest points east in Canada, St John´s was the location that the first transatlantic wireless telegraph was received.  The Signal Hill National Historic Site includes the tower in which Marconi received that message in 1901 and is just one item of interest in the region.
