Klaksvik port information

The Faroe Islands are not very large, and the main islands are interconnected with tunnels, so excursions are often common to other ports.   You should check the other Faeroese ports for possibilities; Klaksvik, Kollafjordur, Runavik and Torshavn.

Klaksvic is the eastern- most of the Faroese ports and is situated on a bar bwtween two islands and so has two bays that act as natural harbours.   The main town is on the bar joinging the two islands, but the modern harbour has developed all along the banks of the northern bay, which gives the town a bias towards the north end.

Some cruise lines have announced a boycott of the Faroe Tslands due to the whaling cull, other lines have reduced their calls, but made no official announcement, other lines are continuing to call.   There is an article about it here, and a wikipedia article, you may find these distressing.

For such a small country the Faroe Islands are well endowed with ports, this will be our third visit and (now four) each time we have been to a different port.   No doubt the number of ports arose from their fishing industry which was probably the mainstay of their economy in the past.   Like most other fishing nations they are diversifing into tourism, and with such a lush green countryside this seems a good choice.
